Leye traveling 2010
Eben and Xiyangyang's trip in Guangxi, stop 3, Leye.
Day 12
Got up at 7:30 and eat noodles for breakfast. We carried our bags to the bus station and waited for the bus. We were traveling to Leye over 100 k drive and over 1000m up into the karst mountains. The journey toke 4 and a half hours on the bumpy and steep road from Baise to Leye. The bus stopped at every small village on the way as local people got on and off with there things. On arriving in Leye we found our selves at a brand new state of the art bus station in the small mountain village. We walked to the back of the bus to get our bags only to find that the same space had been used for transporting fish! The back was full of very fishy smelling water and it was all over our bags! I left xiyangyang to look after the bags and when to see where in Leye to go. I got back to find her and our bags awash with flies! They could smell the fish, and liked it!
We quickly left and took a toktok into the town. Xiyangyang did a good job of finding somewhere to stay and we now have a good hotel room for only £4 a night.
We rested, washed some cloths and then went to eat noodles. It was the only thing we could find to eat in Leye. I went off exploring and Xiyangyany played on the net. We when to eat dinner and got ripped off buying dumplings, then found some good Sichuan food and watched foot ball. We have just got back from talking to a local caver and seeing his photographs. Now time to sleep.
Day 13
We went with Li jin our local contact to look at new locations for making rock climbs. We looked at several caves and cliffs. Maybe enough for about 20 routes with a wide grade range. After that we came back and spent some much needed time on the internet.
Day 14
Today we went to try out the new Leye climbing wall. We had to solo the first 4m to get to the bolts. Most of the routes were now incomplete as holds had been taken off to make different events last time it was used. We did half a route climbing about 4 times. The route was quite hard about 7a+. After climbing a few times the bolts started to come lose! They had not been mounted properly. We got our equipment back and retired for the day.
